Rimpa and Impressionism 2020-2021

A special exhibition at the Artizon Museum

活动地点: Artizon Museum, Tokyo 活动时间: Nov 14th - Jan 24th 2021

Rimpa (also often written as rinpa) is one of the major historical schools of Japanese painting, created in 17th Century Kyoto. Another iconic form of painting is impressionism, which grew in the 19th Century through the likes of Claude Monet and Pierre-Auguste Renoir. A special exhibition at Tokyo's Artizon Museum looks at the aesthetics of these two painting styles, and the achievements of painters from both styles.

Around 100 works will be displayed at the exhibition, including pieces which have been designated as National Treasures and Important Cultural Properties.
