The museum is usually closed every Monday unless it is a National Holiday, in which case the next business day will be closed. The museum may also be closed during exhibit changes, so it is recommended to check Miho Museum's schedule before planning a visit. The museum is also closed every winter, from around early/mid-December to mid-March.

Deep in the hills of Shiga Prefecture, near the pottery town of Shigaraki, is a world famous art museum. I can't actually remember any of the art I saw at Miho Museum, but I'll never forget the airy, spacious building lined with honey-colored tiles of polished stone. Large windows allow the ever-changing light and views of forested hills to flow into the space unimpeded. It is a beautiful building. The art simply couldn't compete.
