Maki-e Masterpieces 2021

A special exhibition at the Kiyomizu Sannenzaka Museum

活动地点: Kiyomizu Sannenzaka Museum 活动时间: May 15th - Aug 1st 2021

A special exhibition taking place at the Kiyomizu Sannenzaka Museum explores a variety of lacquerware masterpieces, with a specific focus on the maki-e artform. Maki-e involves pictures and patterns being drawn on a lacquerware item's surface and then dusted with either gold or silver powder, and it has been used to decorate everything from furnishings to buildings.

The event will showcase a range of beautiful lacquerware pieces from master craftsmen from the Edo, Meiji, and Taisho eras.

Adult admission to the event is priced at 800 yen, and no advance reservations are required.

交通方式

The Kiyomizu Sannenzaka Museum can be accessed via bus from Kyoto Station. Take Kyoto Bus #100 or #206, and alight at the Kiyomizu-michi or Higashiyama-Yasui stop. From either stop the museum is approximately seven minutes away on foot.

For those who opt to drive to the museum, do note that there is no dedicated parking lot on-site. There are numerous paid lots in the surrounding area.
