If you're looking for a reason to embrace Japan’s rainy season, the Hydrangea Festival at Sanuki Manno National Government Park in Kagawa might just be it. From early June through early July, visitors can stroll through Shikoku’s largest hydrangea display, with an impressive 20,000 blooms from 40 varieties transforming the park into a sea of color.

From delicate lacecaps to bold double-flowered varieties, each bloom brings its own personality to the park’s tiered Hydrangea Garden. Designed with accessibility in mind, the garden features paved paths and slopes suitable for strollers and wheelchairs.

In addition to the floral displays, the month-long event features weekend-only outdoor tea ceremonies, creative workshops like painting your own umbrella, and a fun hydrangea photo contest. There are also discounted one-day bike rental passes and a weekend shuttle bus that loops between major attractions in the park.
