A special exhibition taking place at the Fukui Fine Arts Museum looks at the influence of Okakura Tenshin (also known as Okakura Kakuzō), who published 'The Book of Tea' in 1906. The book showed the beauty, tradition, and culture intertwined in the small daily act of drinking tea, which also shaped perceptions of Japan abroad.

Some of the pieces displayed at the event will include a first-edition copy of The Book of Tea, items used in tea ceremonies, and paintings related to tea.

Adult admission to the event is priced at 100 yen.

Getting there

The Fukui Fine Arts Museum is located around 8 minutes by taxi from the JR Fukui Station, served by the Hokuriku Main Line, the Etsumi-Hoku Line (Kuzuryū Line), the Katsuyama Eiheiji Line, the Mikuni Awara Line, and the Fukubu Line.

Alternatively, for those who plan to drive, the museum is about 15 minutes from the Fukui Kita IC on the Hokuriku Expressway. Free parking is available on-site for over 100 vehicles.
