Like most other Japanese people, I love deep-fried pork (tonkatsu), a traditional dish here in Japan. I say 'traditional here in Japan' because in Fukui, it's hard to find a place where this type of pork is served. Here, a fried pork dish called, 'Sauce-Katsu', which is pork dipped in a special sauce, is a mainstream dish, and wherever you go, even if you just want to eat authentic, regular deep-fried pork you'll find yourself eating 'Sauce-Katsu' instead, sobbing. So, can you guess how happy I was to find just a regular restaurant that serves regular tonkatsu in Fukui? I spotted 'Katsudoki' when I was going back home from the Lotus Park in Echizen, screamed, told my husband to stop the car, and make a big U-turn. Nothing was going to stop me from eating tonkatsu here! Do check it out when you come to Fukui!
