The two phoenixes on the roof were replaced by replicas in 1968, and the genuine ones are safely kept somewhere else.

２０１４年１１月２３日宇治平等院鳳凰堂への参拝。

さすが世界遺産の平等院鳳凰堂、リフレッシュ後の顔見せ。早朝から表門と鳳凰堂見学受付に長蛇の列が出来ていた。私は早めに並んだ為、早い順番で拝観をしたが、それでも２時間くらいは並んだと思う。なんと日本人は並ぶのが好きな民族かと今更ながら感心する。

そして平等院内には鳳凰堂はもちろん、塔頭と呼ばれる寺院が他にある。平等院塔頭は最勝院と浄土院の二つがあり、ともに仏像を拝して合掌して来た。
