和みの温泉宿

新平湯温泉の古民家風一軒宿で寛ぐ奥飛騨の旅

Entrance of Shoho-en, a rural Japanese hot spring hotel. It looks simple and bare.

In the hotel garden, there are only a few small statues. The simplicity of it makes you feel like you are living in a mountain village.

I took a bath before dinner. This is the corridor leading to the outdoor bath. There was no bathtub in my room.

The hotel is decorated in Mingei (Japanese folk-art) style

Looking out at the garden through three big windows. I felt like as though I was looking at three paintings.

My room consisted of one tatami-mat room, and another one which had an irori fireplace on the wooden floor

This hanging scroll in an alcove says, 'Be myself, I am what I am'. I felt I could just be myself in this room.

This is not a fake irori fireplace you often find in these places, but the genuine one! Charcoal glows in the center and warms you body and soul.

２０１０年１０月１０日奥飛騨郷と新穂高岳の紅葉を愉しむ為、新平湯温泉に宿を求めた。

新穂高のロープウェイ駅付近で泊まればもっと楽だったが、既に予約が取れなくて満室の状態！で、それほど遠くないしかも温泉掛け流しの古民家風囲炉裏付きの宿を取る事にしたのだ。

結局、翌日に予定していた新穂高岳は残念ながら雨が降り出した為、今回の登頂は叶わず延期となった。その分、この築１２０年の古民家でのんびり過ごす事が出来たのだ。宿のスタッフの対応も、つかず離れずの絶妙な距離感でストレスなくもてなして頂き、ゆったりと寛げたのがとても嬉しかった！
